Delphi used for COVID-19 apps
Blog|by Leanne Bevan|15 April 2020
Some of the great things that have come out of this unfortunate COVID-19 pandemic that is sweeping the globe, is the way in which communities are coming together to support one another and how technology is being used to support them and help stop the spread of the virus.
Delphi can be used to quickly create native cross-platform applications. This is being used to create apps to help combat the spread of COVID-19.
Military Institute of Medicine, Poland
A team from the Military Institute of Medicine in Poland decided to add an extension to their Epidemiologist hospital-based software to monitor the health of people staying at home. It has helped to detect potential epidemic outbreaks and enabled swift responses to take place.
The app focuses on saving the Epidemiologists time by feeding twice daily survey results gathered securely on the app back to them to analyse using artificial intelligence that highlights those that need prioritising for support, rather than the Epidemiologists having to sift through vast amounts of data.
The app includes functionality such as notifications and location data and was created in under two weeks by science and IT professionals that hadn’t created a mobile application before.

BS Software Development, Germany
Elsewhere in Europe, German company BS Software Development has created a Delphi iOS and Android app to enable direct communication about test results between patients and laboratories. Again, this saves lots of time, quickening the communication and response process. Plus, saves the doctors and health authorities being inundated with telephone enquires.
QR codes are scanned and individually assigned to each patient. The test result is then communicated via a traffic light display on the free app.
More details about the app can be found here.
