Google Cloud IoT Core to retire in 2023
News|by Alanna|16 August 2022
Google is ending its Cloud IoT Core managed service on August 16 2023, leaving users with one year to find an alternative solution.
What does this mean for your business?
Once Google Cloud Iot Core service reaches end of life, users will be unable to access IoT Core Device Manager API’s. Google’s announcement regarding Cloud IoT Core end of life has come as a surprise to some, but it also presents a great opportunity for your application/solution.
How can you begin to prepare?
You should start exploring what options are available to you.
We can help with this and discuss Microsoft’s Azure IoT platform as an alternative to Google’s Cloud IoT Core. Whether you use this as an opportunity to rework your IoT solution from the ground up, or you want to move your existing solution to the Azure platform with minimal changes, our in-house Microsoft accredited Azure IoT architects can support you.
IoT Kickstart Programme
Our IoT Kickstart Programme was designed in conjunction with Microsoft and can help you explore what’s possible when creating a successful IoT solution on Azure from the ground up.
The multi-phase programme provides you with access to our technical services team and IoT specialists from Microsoft.
We start by understanding your objectives and strategy before undertaking a series of activities to support your technical adoption of IoT and help you build an IoT business model. And if you're developing solutions to sell on, we'll even help define your value proposition and go-to-market plan.
There are six stages to the kickstart programme:
- Objectives - Understand intended IoT/Data usage opportunities at your company
- Discovery - Apprehend technology and business possibilities of IoT/Data
- Design - Set the technology blueprint of the IoT/Data integration in my business
- Assess - Review your blueprint in conjunction with validated learning
- Deploy - Deploy corresponding infrastructure blueprint and sensors
- Review - Programme debrief and engagement next steps identification
